After years of trying to figure out what was the most effective way to expand their ATM accessibility, several credit unions throughout Oklahoma knew that they would need to expand their ATM offerings in order to keep up with major banking institutions throughout the area. At times, this was often cost-prohibitive. Larger institutions could not justify installing a machine in an area without a large member base. Smaller institutions were prohibited by the great expense involved with the installation of a machine.
So, on a handshake and with their word as their bond, five Oklahoma credit unions joined to make their 45 ATM machines available to each other’s members at no-surcharge. Others were invited, and thanks to new members and our relationship with Transfund Financial Services, ATM Zone has grown to ten member institutions, providing over 400 ATM machines in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, California, Missouri, and Georgia.
